BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Bay County Chamber of Commerce has canceled all April and May events.

Wednesday, the group said the April and may First Friday events, Annual Block Party, Tourism Appreciation Month activities in May, and all committee meetings. They did say some committee meetings may still take place virtually if there are necessary items to talk about.

"If we all do our part to not spread this virus, our county, state and country will be back to normal much quicker than if we do nothing and ignore the warnings. Cancellation of these events was not taken lightly by our Board of Directors and staff but the safety and wellbeing of our community is of utmost concern," said Carol Roberts, President/CEO of the Bay County Chamber of Commerce.

They say staff has been working remotely since Hurricane Michael, and the two remaining staff at Gulf Coast State College will now work remotely. They say phones will still be answered, emails responded to and other normal operations will still take place.
