All five members of the Bay County Board of County Commissioners will travel to Washington, D.C. Tuesday.

The group has several scheduled meetings with members of Congress and various federal agencies. The goal? To push for the passage of a federal supplemental recovery bill.

Commissioner Philip "Griff" Griffitts said the passage of a bill is critical for the long-term recovery of the county, and commissioners are going prepared.

"We're gonna go up there with a list of concerns and complaints and obviously express to them the importance of getting this passed now and the wait--it's getting a bit... we're two weeks away from hurricane season and they need to fix what started in 2018," said Griffitts.

He added that planning for this trip has been in the works for some time and their meetings will include meetings with FEMA, the U.S. Census Bureau, and Senators Rick Scott and Marco Rubio.
