If you're worried it might be an unlicensed contractor knocking on your door, the Bay County Sheriff's Office is working to protect you.

On April 17th at 10 a.m., the Sheriff's Office is hosting a seminar on unlicensed contracting and how citizens can be educated on the topic.

Assistant State Attorney Larry Basford will also be there to talk about what is done to prosecute those doing illegal work.

"We wanna make sure that people really come and listen to this particular seminar, that if they're still struggling, we can actually give them in-person answers. So they know perhaps where to go to, what to look for, and what to expect in reference to the situation that we have here," said Bay County Sheriff's Office Investigator Paul Vecker.

To register for the seminar, call the sheriff's office at (850) 747-4700. If there's no answer, deputies say to leave your name and number and they'll get back to you.
