BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Bay County will receive $78,194 to supplement the county's emergency food and shelter programs.
The federal funds were awarded after Bay County was selected by a national board chaired by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The national board was in charge of distributing money approved by Congress to improve food and shelter programs in high-need areas.
A local board will decide how the awarded money will be distributed.
The terms of the grant state local agencies chosen to receive money must be private voluntary or non-profits or units of government, have an accounting system, practice nondiscrimination, demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, and if a private voluntary organization, have a voluntary board.
Qualifying agencies can apply by contacting Hollee Hansen at the United Way of Northwest Florida, 602 Harrison Avenue (temp location is 842 Harrison Avenue), Panama City, FL 32401; or phone (850) 218-6780 for an application. The deadline for applications to be received is July 5th, 2019.
