One Bay County leader headed to Washington D.C. on Tuesday.

Commissioner Tommy Hamm is attending a White House leadership conference, but while he's there, Hamm is hoping to shed some light back on the Panhandle.

Hamm will meet with Housing and Urban Development officials and the governor's liaison, as well as possibly FEMA.

Although Hamm believes D.C. may have forgotten about the Panhandle, he also says things are looking up.

"The environment seems to be a little better that, you know, we're getting some attention, the funding that we need, but we just got to stay after them, gotta stay in their ear, and just keeping pushing," said commissioner Tommy Hamm.

Hamm will return from D.C. on Friday.
