BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Bay County man has been convicted on multiple charges, including attempted murder.

State Attorney's officials say Larry Sims was found guilty Friday in the 2017 shooting of his girlfriend.

They say in April 2017, Sims and the victim got into an argument, and he kicked in her front door and dragged her out by her hair. When she tried to run away he shot her multiple times, then stood over her and shot her some more, all within view of her children.

They say a Parker police officer heard the gunshots and responded and when the children ran to the officer, Sims shot at them as well.

Sims is convicted of attempted first-degree murder, attempted first-degree felony murder, armed burglary with an assault or battery with a Firearm, and attempted second-degree murder. He faces a mandatory life sentence on all counts.
