Bay County man found guilty of child abuse in 2014 case
A Bay County man has been found guilty of abusing a child in 2014.
A jury found Michael Carson guilty of three counts of aggravated child abuse and three counts of child neglect of a child causing great bodily harm of permanent disfigurement.
In 2014, Carson burned a child with a lighter, beat her with a belt buckle, whipped her, and burned her in scalding water over a period of time. Attorneys proved Carson never got medical care for the child's injuries.
The child was rescued from the home when a Family First Network worker saw the injuries on the child during an unannounced home visit.
Carson will be sentenced in January.
