Bay County to receive $28 million for housing needs

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Bay County will be receiving $28 million from the state to assist with housing needs post Hurricane Michael.

The Hurricane Housing Recovery Program Funding Agreement will provide more affordable housing in Bay County. The county will discuss how the money will be used to assist in the housing problem. Commissioner William Dozier says it has been one of the biggest issues since the storm.

"It just snowballs into different effects. This money is going to be used to help people secure a home, and to have an affordable home, so they can stay in our area, work in our area, and raise a family," Dozier said.

Panama City will be receiving $8 million to assist with housing needs.
