BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - It's been nine months post-Hurricane Michael and Bay County's property appraiser says "property values are recovering nicely".
It's no secret there's a shortage of housing and repaired properties are selling at a premium. But at Tuesday's Bay County Commission Meeting, the county's property appraiser, Dan Sowell said this means assessed values should go up in the county based on current sales activity.
Sowell says the higher tax base should generate more ad valorem tax revenue ultimately benefiting the Bay County area.
