PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Bay Credit Union has announced that board member Wes Atkins has received this year's Volunteer of the Year Award.
On Thursday, June 15th Atkins received the award which recognized someone who has put in time, effort, and talent into moving the credit union forward.
Atkins began his career with the credit union at the age of 21. Of his 57 years of service, he has been treasurer, board member, and even CEO. His contributions to the credit union include merging two credit unions and opening new branches. He currently serves as treasurer of Bay Credit Union and is also a board member for Tallahassee Leon Federal Credit Union.
Atkins has also developed a simulated credit union program for Wewa elementary schools. This program has been adoped by school systems in seven other states.
