At Tuesday's Bay District Schools Board meeting, members approved the cost for the design work for the Fine Arts Center.
Officials say the cost for the designs and engineering is just over $775,000.
The auditorium itself is said to have around 600 seats and officials say it aims to bring the arts back downtown.
Lee Walters the director of facilities for Bay District Schools said, “It will be somewhat similar usage as the Martin Theatre pre-storm. A lot of great opportunities for the students. It’s going to bring in additional theater programs and so forth.”
The project is expected to break ground in 8 to 10 months.
