The Bay District School Board took steps Tuesday to help finance a new school.

The school board approved the finances for the new beach elementary school in Panama City Beach.

The board voted to finance and equip the school for up to $42 million.

Officials say it’s a vital step to go towards the construction of the school.

Crews are already working to clear the land at the site on Chip Seal Parkway and officials say the money will go towards a long list of items as construction continues.

Jim Loyed, the Chief Financial Officer for Bay District Schools said, “Everything that’s included in that school From the equipment that’s needed, to the technology that’s needed, even to the books.”

Officials say they hope the school will be open by August of 2021.
