SPRINGFIELD, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The city of Springfield can soon look forward to a little extra land in the town's limits to become its own.
Back in 2013, Bay District Schools leaders gave the deed of the Shaw School to Springfield for public purposes uses.
Now school board leaders tell us the city is getting ready to use the land as a park, but in the process, the mayor found a small sliver of land between the school and the road that was not incorporated into the deed.
"The intent was to give the entire school parcel to Springfield at the time and somehow that little parcel got left out and the school board's happy to give it to the city of Springfield," said School Board Member Franklin Harrison.
Harrison also says this is an effort to remain cooperative with cities.
