BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Distance learning starts for Florida schools Monday.

Bay District Superintendent Bill Husfelt sent a message to parents to talk about distance learning and what options are available.

Husfelt says in the message parents should have heard from their child's teacher by now and have an understanding of how this is going to work. Schools are lending out additional devices they have. Parents are asked to contact their child's school if your student needs to borrow a device, need paper-based learning packets, or if they haven't heard from their child's teacher.

The message also encourages all parents to make sure the email address on file is accurate. Husfelt also reminds students to check their Bay District email.

Husfelt ends the message with, ", if you have questions or need additional help please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's school or call our helpline at 767-HELP."

"S: Covid-19 update
"This is Superintendent Bill Husfelt with an important call for all parents. Per the Governor's direction, today is the first day of distance learning in Bay District Schools. We hope, by now, that you've heard from your child's teacher or teachers and that you have an understanding of how this is going to work for your student. Our schools are in the process of loaning out the limited number of additional devices that we have. Please contact your child's school if you need to borrow a device, need paper-based learning packets or if you haven't heard from your child's teacher.

"We encourage all parents to ensure there's an accurate email address on file in Parent Portal and students should be checking their Bay District Schools email addresses.

"We know that this transition to distance learning is going to be challenging for you and for our employees and we appreciate your patience. You can find a lot of helpful information on our website at www.bay.k12.fl.us and then under the "Covid-19" button on the right and on our facebook page.

"We are grateful for your support, and partnership, and we are glad that are students are able to continue their education remotely. As always, if you have questions or need additional help please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's school or call our helpline at 767-HELP."
