Repairs and additions are well underway to many facilities across Bay District Schools as they are still recovering from Hurricane Michael.

Tuesday, district officials held a nearly two-hour workshop to go over all of the current projects throughout the district.

Officials discussed a wide variety of projects at nearly every school in including playground resurfacing, security upgrades, the new STEM building at Bay High, and construction on the new Beach elementary school, among others.

Officials say there’s one item that’s been at the top of the list, and it’s nearing completion.

“Continuously, we have tried to focus so heavily on roofing projects, and we feel like we’re at the top of the hill, and we’re on the downhill slide, if you will, for those projects," said Executive Director of Facilities Lee Walters.

Officials say once they’re in a good place with roofing, they can move more of a focus to interior projects and campus renovations.
