School Board members held press conferences Monday afternoon about their preparations for the Coronavirus.
Superintendent Bill Husfelt said the school district is working closely with the Florida Department of Health to determine how to move forward.
He said they have around 200 gallons of hand sanitizer ready to go with more on the way.
Husfelt also said for now they’re treating it like you would a normal flu season - urging students, teachers, and parents to wash their hands, cover their coughs, and stay home if they’re sick.
School officials said other recent viruses like the Swine Flu and Zika Virus have better prepared the school district to handle Coronavirus.
“I think we understand the importance of sanitation, I think we understand the importance of communication," said Husfelt. "All of those things have helped us to establish a very positive, productive pipeline with the local authorities.”
Husfelt said they’re also planning on providing links to teachers to give to their students about proper precautions to take.
