BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - After Hurricane Michael, Bay District Schools officials sent a letter to the Florida Department of Education asking for relief.

The letter includes requests to waive state testing and graduation requirements. It also asked for funding relief. In addition, the district asked the state to not calculate district or school grades.

Bay District Schools has not heard back from the state.

In a statement, district officials said, "From the earliest days after Hurricane Michael the District has been diligently requesting relief from the state in every area from testing requirements to funding formulas. While we have yet to hear back regarding any definitive answers to our very specific requests, we continue to meet with legislators, officials from the DOE [Department of Education] and others who can make these decisions and we feel optimistic that they are not only hearing us but that they will provide assistance."
