PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) With students out of school and at home, many families may be wondering where their children can get the meals they would normally receive at school. Bay District Schools has come up with a solution.
Different sites around the area are providing a drive-thru meal service to kids in the community from ages five to 18. Students can pick-up three pre-packaged meals a day between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
"We are still suffering from the hurricane and this provides a service to our families and allows our children to be able to eat, and that's an important piece. Anyone in the community, if they want to bring their babies, we will be glad to feed them," said Sheila Wojnowski, principal at Cedar Grove Elementary School.
More than 900 meals were served Monday at the 20 sites set-up throughout the district. For a full list of these sites, check our website.
We also contacted Bay District School's public information office about virtual learning for students and were told a press conference will be held Wednesday for more concrete information concerning academics.
