Bay EDA works to grow economy
New businesses could soon be coming to Bay County.
The Bay Economic Development Alliance is currently working on 23 projects. For example, the EDA is working with Gulf Power on a major aviation company. Other industries include logistics and distribution.
Despite everything the community has been through after Hurricane Michael, President of the Bay EDA, Becca Hardin says they haven't slowed down.
"We've been as busy as we have ever been because the assets of our county are around the airport and the port and those properties are ready to go, and I think companies see this as an opportunity to help rebuild with us and they see this is an opportunity in our economy," Hardin said.
Hardin says there are about eight projects the EDA hopes to secure by the end of 2019 or the beginning of 2020, which they hope to announce in the coming months.
