BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Ascension Florida sent out a press release Tuesday announcing Ardent Health Services and Ascension Sacred Heart signed a letter of intent for Ascension to acquire 323-bed Bay Medical.
This will include physician clinic operations in Panama City and Bay County.
According to the release, Ascension includes three Sacred Heart System hospitals: Pensacola, Miramar Beach, and Port St. Joe. It also includes St. Vincent's HealthCare in Jacksonville.
The release also said Bay Medical is working to restore inpatient services in stages following Hurricane Michael. Emergency services have been open.
“Ascension has demonstrated the power and value of our partnership
throughout this post-hurricane period, especially with their ability to accept 230-plus patients who needed to be evacuated in the 48 hours following the hurricane," Ardent Americas Division President Matt Maxfield said in the release.
According to officials, the transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
