PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Bethel Village Women's and Children's Home opened up its doors to the public Saturday from 2 p.m. until 7.p.m. for a Christmas open house and fundraiser.
The event, formerly known as the annual, "Festival Of Trees," raises money to support the needs of the women and children at Bethel Village.
"We had to scale it down this year because we just didn't have the staff and the volunteers to do such a big event," said Liz Craswell, of Proverbs 31. "We really felt like we wanted to bring the people here to Bethel so they know exactly where their money is going so that they can see what they're donating for, meet the women in the program, meet the staff and meet the Proverbs 31 ladies."
Event-goers had the opportunity to bid on unique, decorated Christmas trees and wreaths. There were also items up for grabs with "Buy Now" prices, along with a silent auction.
Tours of the recently renovated facility were available and live entertainment was also provided.
Money raised from the event benefits the non-profit all year long. They're hoping to raise between $5,000 and $10,000.
