TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Black Friday and Cyber Monday are just days away and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services wants to remind you to watch out for scams.
Commissioner Adam Putnam says some retailers may inflate prices ahead of Black Friday to make it appear that prices were cut. He reminds people to research the regular price of items you are going to buy so you know the actual amount you're saving, if you're saving.
Also, price matching policies may be suspended by some businesses, so make sure you check ahead of time.
Don't click any suspicious emails or links when shopping online.
Avoid websites with odd or incorrect spellings on the site.
Beware of "unbelievable" deals. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Use a credit card for online orders. It is easier to dispute and mediate fraudulent charges with a credit card than a debit card.
