BLOUNTSTOWN, Fla.(WJHG/WECP) - Blountstown received a $700,000 grant from the state legislature to make improvements to the city.
City Manager Traci Hall said the money will go toward improving the drainage systems and sewer lines underground in the south side of the city. Hall said they made plans and applied for the loan before Hurricane Michael hit but now the money will help the city recover from the storm.
"In addition to the things we had to do based on Hurricane Michael, the destruction that we received so is just great to have this funding come in," said Traci Hall. "To be able to do some improvements without it hurting our pocketbook."
Hall said they plan on finalizing the designs for improvements over the next 90 days.
