Bonifay man charged with elderly neglect and exploitation

BONIFAY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Bonifay man has been charged after he allegedly neglected an elderly woman in his care and took possession of her vehicle and bank card.

Frederick Joe Johnston, 52 was taken into custody Thursday by Holmes County deputies on an arrest warrant. During the course of the arrest, deputies discovered evidence of a meth lab in his home. After obtaining a search warrant, deputies discovered chemicals used to make meth, as well as several grams of finished product.

Johnson is charged with elderly neglect and exploitation of more than $10,000 and less than $50,000, while another woman, Cynthia Martinez of Dothan was also charged with exploitation.
