At the annual walk Saturday morning, dozens walked across the bridge by Leslie Porter Wayside Park in Lynn Haven for suicide awareness and prevention.

The event is hosted by the SPARE coalition along with many other organizations.

"Unfortunately in our society suicide and mental health have such a stigma attached to it, people don't reach out for help, people don't understand how prevalent suicide is, so we do everything we can to get out there and make sure that people do learn about it, and we're educating people and bringing awareness, because the more people that understand that it's there and how to get people help, the more lives we can save," said Tricia Pearce, Life Management Center.

The local 24/7 suicide prevention hotline is 850-522-4485.
