BRUCE, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A mobile home is destroyed after an early morning fire in Bruce.
Walton County Fire Rescue got a call Wednesday morning around 4:12 from a CHELCO employee about heavy flames coming from a nearby home on Rooks Bluff Road. Firefighters say the neighbor heard a loud "boom" and ran outside to find out where the noise came from. Once outside, he told firefighters the home was completely engulfed.
Firefighters and deputies from Walton County Sheriff's Office responded, but by the time they got there, the home had already collapsed. Firefighters were able to put the fire out within minutes, they said.
Firefighters say there was a woman inside the home when the fire broke out, but her dogs woke her up. She was able to get out with her pets safely.
As of now, it is uncertain how the fire started. The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.
