PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - It's no secret that businesses have been struggling in the wake of Hurricane Michael.
23rd Street in particular has had many businesses reopen recently, while others are still closed with no end in sight.
Businesses that have recently reopened include Outback and Target. Locals are excited to see these restaurants and stores reopen.
Blanca Halley, a local, said "Heck yes, it's been nice, you know, after the hurricane you just thought, 'Nothing's really going to happen soon enough,' but, it sure did."
Cindy Duncan, another local, said "I mean it's exciting, this is the town I grew up in and seeing some of these mom and pop's have to close...It's been tough, so the fact that we'll have more places to eat, that they're getting back in business is awesome."
After more than five months, locals feel reassured to see places rebuilding and reopening their doors.
