PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Just as the green begins to grow back on the remaining trees, businesses in our area are coming back too.
Kohl's in Panama City had its grand reopening Saturday, with locals flocking to the popular clothing store.
"I was so glad to see Kohl's open, and to see the signs, to see the billboards, something new's coming, it's coming back," said local Lisha Hawthorne.
Five Guys and The Place Downtown reopened last week, just a couple of the many restaurants returning to the area.
"We are so lucky to have such great customers and they've all come back and it's kind of been like a reunion of sorts seeing some old faces we haven't seen in a long time," said Owner of The Place Kim Stiegler.
As more stores and restaurants return to business as normal, many feel it's helping the community return to normal too.
"I think the same could be said of the entire Panama City community, we're all coming back stronger, it's been a very tough few months, but we're all more resilient and more compassionate," said Store Manager of Kohl's in Panama City Nichole Newell.
Business staff say they couldn't be happier to have their doors open again.
"We are so excited to be back in the community. It's been way too many months since we've been able to see all of our customers and our loyal fan base here in Panama City and we're excited to be a part of the community again," said Newell.
Life in Panama City may not be business as usual, but some stores and businesses are showing not even Hurricane Michael can make them close up shop.
