CareerSource Gulf Coast employees say they are here to help during the pandemic.
The center offers assistance with the unemployment application process.
However, employees want to remind folks that they are not the actual unemployment office.
The center cannot give an exact number of those who have inquired about unemployment locally, but they do say, in the state of Florida, nearly 1.5 million calls have come in to the Department of Economic Opportunity.
"Our phone lines at our job center have been ringing off the hook. We found that we're not just helping our community. We're actually servicing the entire state of Florida," CareerSource Gulf Coast Director of Communications Brittany Rock said. "Not every career source region is operational for the public to come in, so they've been reaching out to us as a resource to help them with that service."
Rock says, if you are looking for work, grocery and pharmacy services are hiring right now.
