Coastal Dune Lake Grant

One of the world's rarest ecosystems will soon get revitalized thanks to a local grant.
There are only four other places in the world, besides Walton County, that feature coastal dune lakes and because of its rare and delicate nature, Gulf Power, along with several other organizations, have partnered to award $40,000 to the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance to help restore and revitalize the dune lakes.
The grant will support improving 70 acres of the aquatic habitat and restore four acres of the dune habitats as they work on invasive plant removal treatments.
