"Where when the students are working on reading music and learning to play an instrument, they are actually exercising the brain centers for everything," Norona said.
He started his career at Bay High, and after 10 years he's back in Bay County, building relationships with students, one of his favorite things about being a teacher.
"here at Rutherford being a six through twelve, now I get to know them for sevens years and you get to build those relationships with those students and their parents and the families, and it just becomes on big band family," Norona said.
Norona has a passion for band and says he hopes his students leave his classroom with a love for learning.
"If you love bettering yourself as a person, then you're always having a great time," Norona said.
This Golden Apple winner plans on staying at Rutherford for many years.
