Construction to begin soon on Walton County Skate Park
Construction on the Walton County Skate Park could begin as soon as this spring.
At Tuesday’s Walton County Commission meeting, the board chair signed a contract with the company that will build the skate park.
Spohn Ranch Inc. will begin construction within a few weeks after they get the contract back.
Michael Sturdivant says this is going to help with kids' health.
"Skateboarding is a relatively inexpensive sport for kids to be able to get into. There's plenty of kids that can't afford to be on a soccer team or football team or baseball team, or don't have transportation to get back and forth from practices, so to make sure all the kids in the county have an opportunity to do healthy recreation, the park's super important," said Sturdivant.
The skate park is being built in Helen McCall Park in Santa Rosa Beach, which is west of Highway 393, on Moll Drive.
