Panama City Beach crash leaves one dead, three injured

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - UPDATE 10:15 p.m.

Panama City Beach police say one person has died as a result of a crash at the intersection of Highway 79 and Front Beach Road Friday.

They say Kimberly Smith, 55, of Marietta, Georgia and her passenger John Hammond Jr. were driving north on Highway 79 when Smith's car crossed over the center lane into the path of another vehicle.

They say Smith and Hammond hit Laurie Wesley, 67, and her passenger Christine Penrose head-on.

All four people were taken to the hospital. Smith died as a result of her injuries.

Police say a crash Friday afternoon left four people injured.

The accident occurred by the intersection of Front Beach Road and Highway 79. We're told multiple agencies arrived on scene just after 3 p.m.

Officials say four people were taken to area hospitals with injuries.
