BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Bay County emergency officials will open an emergency shelter at Deane Bozeman School Friday afternoon.
In a press conference Friday morning, officials said Bozeman will open as a shelter Friday night at 5 p.m. and will stay open until Saturday at noon. Officials say they know some people who are still rebuilding after Hurricane Michael may not feel safe where they are staying, so they're opening the shelter.
They say this shelter will not have cots so anyone who goes to the shelter will need to bring bedding with them. They also ask people to bring any specialty food or snacks required and the food must be non-perishable.
Bozeman is a pet friendly shelter. Pets should be kenneled and evacuees must provide food and water for the pets.
Bay County officials declared a local State of Emergency Friday. The Bay County Operating Center is activated to a Level 2 , or a partial activation, to support sheltering needs.
