PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A group of women is proving that not even hundreds of miles can stop them from giving back this holiday season.

The Democratic Women's Club of Volusia County wanted to help out the people of Bay County who are still in need after Hurricane Michael.
They held a holiday giving party instead of their usual Christmas party and then made the haul from Daytona Beach to Panama City with a trailer filled with clothes, blankets, and other supplies.
Some of the stuff will be going to children in Bay District Schools and the rest will go to people in the community.
"We work with the Democratic party of Bay County, we have a lot of sisters and brothers up here, and we know that you are not getting the help that you could be having. We always call Bay County the forgotten hurricane area," said Danielle Neetz with the Democratic Women's Club of Volusia County.
After working together in the past, local Democratic club members here say it feels great to have their voices heard.
"So grateful, so grateful and so excited. I know this is going to help brighten up a lot of Christmases and it couldn't have come at a better time," said Candice Burgess, the President of the Democratic Women's Club of Bay County.
Ministries in Volusia County are working with churches in Bay County to bring donated furniture for those still in need.
