DESTIN, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A iconic point looking over the Destin brige is getting a facelift.
Norriego Point on the south side of the Marler Bridge is undergoing a stabilization project.
Construction will include shorline stablization, beach and dune restoration, and recreation improvements.
The multi-million dollar investment will also add five acres to the point.
"I do not believe we would have ever been able to accomplish it if that BP money haden't become available to us. Destin did not have the funding available to take on a project like this," Destin Mayor, Scott Fischer said.
The project began in October and is expected to be complete in the Spring.
