ECP officials lay out holiday travel tips

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - if you are traveling this holiday season and you intend to fly to your destination remember that airports everywhere will be crowded. Airport officials have some advice to make your travel experience more enjoyable.

Air travel should be busier during the holidays this year at Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport.

Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport is making every effort to make you trip easier. The first thing mentioned to pack is your patience. The airport has experienced an 18% growth rate over last year's travel season and delays could be encountered.

Plan ahead using the airlines' websites and if you can utilize the Pre-check app for TSA, and arrive at the airport at least one and a half hours before your flight.

Airport Executive Director Parker McClellan added, "So there's a lot of opportunities that can make your trip easier and we encourage everybody to always check the website. Remember that the weather is a factor. It may not be a factor here but it could be where your airplane is coming from or where your final destination is going to be. We ask that everybody continue to look at the websites."

The thing that continues to be impressed on travelers is to allow plenty of time to get to your airport since delays can even happen on your way to the airport.
