PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport is staying open during the coronavirus outbreak.
According to the Executive Director of the airport, Parker McClellan, the number of passengers in the airport has decreased dramatically. McClellan says, typically during this time of the year there is anywhere from 1500 to 1800 passengers a day, but now there's only been about 300 passengers.
The airport increased cleaning procedures two weeks ago in response to the virus. Hand sanitizer dispensers have also been placed around the airport.
During a board meeting on Wednesday, McClellan talked about helping out rental car companies and airlines during the COVID-19 outbreak.
