BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG) - It's National School Lunch Week. For our education segment this week, Resident District Manager of Chartwells Julio Narvaez joined us in studio to discuss all things school lunches in Bay District Schools.
Due to the impacts Hurricane Michael had on local families, Chartwells and Bay District Schools have been offering free lunches to all students this school year. Narvaez says he wants parents to know that other programs are also available for those in need.
Chartwells is using this week to remind children of the importance of eating healthy by offering samples of fun recipes and other special treats and prizes.
Created in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy, National School Lunch Week celebrates the benefits of the National School Lunch Program. This year's theme is "School Lunch Snapshot".
