Election security grants approved for Florida counties

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Florida state leaders are doing what they can to make the next election safe and secure.

Monday, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the Florida Department of State approved election security grant applications totaling more than $2.3 million for all 55 counties that applied.

They say since 2018, DOS and Supervisors of Elections have invested millions of dollars in election security. They say Florida is the first and only state in the country to have all counties using the ALBERT network monitoring sensors.

In our area, the following counties were approved for grant money:
-Bay: $1,131.00
-Calhoun: $9,290.00
-Franklin: $1,340.00
-Gulf: $13,879.00
-Holmes: $1,668.00
-Jackson: $8,860.00
-Okaloosa: $21,382.00
-Washington: $10,606.00

The 55 counties are splitting $2,343,395.00.
