Some local veterans got into the holiday spirit Monday thanks to the Emerald Coast Rotary Club.

The club hosted a Christmas celebration for those at Sims State Veterans Nursing Home in Springfield Monday night.

The party featured dinner catered by Triple J’s, a DJ, and even a few group dances.

Organizers say they love putting on the annual event to honor the veterans' sacrifice.

Doug DeGood the President of the Emerald Coast Rotary Club said, "Every year we come out here and feed them a Christmas dinner. We work many, many events year-round with the veterans. Our main goal is to make sure that they know that they've not been forgotten for what they've sacrificed and done for this country."

Peppers restaurant also donated a check to the home, using the money raised during a recent fundraiser
