Some locals say that State Road 390 is one of the busiest roadways in Bay County.

The Florida Department of Transportation is getting ready to begin its third phase of widening it.

FDOT officials say they’ll widen the section between Baldwin Road and 23rd Street from two lanes to six.

During this time, they will also improve sidewalks, drainage, signage and more.

Some locals say the roadway is congested and tough for people trying to make turns, especially those who live residential areas. Some also said that the roadway is very dark and it’s difficult to see people who are walking on the side of the road.

”It’s been helping out a lot. Getting it a little bit more wider though would be good. Especially the other areas, because it really gets congested around four or five. So it’s great they’re working on getting it done," said Lynn Haven resident Jon-Marcel Winchester.

FDOT officials say they will begin construction Friday. They’ll have road closures on this section between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. during the construction period. They plan to finish up by 2024.
