A New York Times best-selling author shared her latest book with the community at FSU Panama City Monday afternoon.

Kristina McMorris's book 'Sold on a Monday,' was inspired by a newspaper photo published in 1948 of a Chicago mother offering her four young children for sale.

'Sold on a Monday' tells the fictional story of a young journalist as he faces the consequences of a career-making decision.

McMorris hopes the community read starts a discussion among students about fact versus fiction.

"Today, as far as the students go, I hope that they enjoy reading. Reading, for me, is a big love and I hope that they end up finding messages and things that they can apply to their own lives by reading the story," McMorris said.

FSU Panama City holds a community read once a year for students and Bay County residents.
