Fall activities back on track after Hurricane Michael

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - One year after Hurricane Michael and fall activities for our area are on track.

Lobster Fest kicked off on Monday and more activities will be seen throughout the week. (WJHG/WECP)

This time last year many events had to switch dates or cancel. But over this past weekend, people celebrated the Pirates of the High Seas Fest and Monday kicked off Lobster Fest at Schooners.

The activities are starting with a special lobster item menu and then live music will begin on Thursday and throughout the weekend there will be an all-you-can-eat buffet.

But as tourism officials tell us, getting all the fall activities back in order is one thing to help our area grow stronger.

"The more events that we add into the season, the more the bed tax numbers go up, which benefits the economy and Bay County as a whole, so it's really beneficial to everyone in Panama City Beach to have these events and have visitors come in and experience the destination," said Visit Panama City Beach's Public Relations Manager, Lacee Rudd.
