Police searching for suspect in fatal hit and run crash on Clyde B. Wells Bridge
Florida Highway Patrol reports a fatal ht and run crash at 3:00 a.m. on July 5.
According to the official press release, "an unknown type vehicle was traveling southbound on U.S Highway 331," also known as Clyde B Wells Bridge.
They say the vehicle collided with Brandon Jay Benavides, 20, from Santa Rosa Beach. He was in the southbound lanes of Highway 331. After the collision, the vehicle failed to stop and drove away heading south.
Officials say a Ford Mustang and a Honda Civic, both traveling south, then also hit Benavides who was lying in the roadway.
There is no description of the first vehicle or driver. The investigation is ongoing. Florida Highway Patrol asks anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers or the local FHP Station at 850-484-5000.
