Fifth-grader arrested after allegedly making threat against fellow student

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A fifth-grader has been arrested after allegedly making a threat at Shalimar Elementary School.

Okaloosa County Sheriff's officials say multiple students reported the child was asking where a third-grader lived because he planned to get his father's shotgun and kill her.

They say the students told their teacher, who reported the threat to the school's resource officer, the 11-year old appeared angry, they believed he was serious, and they were afraid.

Officials say the student admitted to the deputy he had made those comments and confirmed that his father has a shotgun, stored in the home’s bedroom, but said he does not have access to the weapon.

He reportedly told the SRO he made the threat because he was angry over an argument the third-grader had with one of his friends, but he did not mean it.
