Shortly after 10 A-M crews from Panama City Beach Fire Rescue responded to a call about a fire on North Vestavia Street. By the time they arrived, the owner of the home had put the fire out with a garden hose; however, the fire burned a hole in the side of the home. First responders took action to ensure no other flare ups would happen.

In the spirit of the season, the fireman covered the damaged area with spare plywood they had at the station.

Lieutenant Joey Middlebrooks with Panama City Beach Fire Rescue added "It is the holiday season. This guy looks like he's down on his luck; he's had a trailer fire. So we had some extra plywood at the station, so we decided to give him a hand . Put a couple of sheets up to close that burned section in so that he can go on about his day and try to get some repairs done."

The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
