BAYOU GEORGE, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - According to Florida Forest Service officials, a fire last week sparked up again Monday after low humidity over the weekend.
Drivers could see smoke on Highway 2301 between Waverly Street and Bay Head Road in Bayou George.
Crews used bulldozers to try and put out the woods fire, but officials said mud and wet grass from recent rain was making it a challenge.
Bay County Fire Rescue crews were standing by at a home near the fire just in case.
As of 5 p.m. Monday, the fire is still smoldering and it's 80 percent contained. Firefighters will continue watching for hot spots, but no homes are threatened.
