PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Saturday marked the first anniversary of the foundation created in honor of a child who took her own life after friends and family say she was bullied.

The Gabbie Foundation for Bullied Children was founded on February 2, 2018, less than a month after Gabbie Green's passing.

The foundation's mission is to educate others about the effects of bullying, as well as to lobby for legislation to protect bullying victims.

It also helps children get connected with other resources to cope with and address bullying.

The foundation's goals are mapped out under GABBIE TWELVE, which stands for Grow, Advocate, Build, Budget, Innovate, Educate, Train, Write, Empower, Lobby, Validate, and Evolve.

On what would've been Gabbie's 13th birthday, the foundation hosted a 5K run/walk last June.
