PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Shakel is a 14 year old who loves to play football and has a drive to succeed.
“Always a positive, upbeat kid, and he’s kind of just a pleasure to be around and a joy to coach. I really couldn’t say anything bad about him,” said football coach Sean Kerrigan.
“If I have football practice, I’ll go to practice and practice really hard,” Shakel told us with a smile. He also works hard in the classroom.
“When I look at kids, I always look to see what they have deep down inside them, and there’s something in that young man. You can teach people skills. You can’t give somebody a heart, and my friend’s got a good heart,” Kerrigan told us.
Shakel has a sense of humor. When asked if he had any requests of his future family, he made us all smile with his answer.
“No snakes because I hate snakes. I love dogs though.”
